Realtek Semiconductor Corp., one of the world’s leading network and multimedia IC providers, today announced the world’s first DisplayPort HBR3 (8.1Gbps) LCD monitor solution (RTD2185 + RTD2799) supporting 5K or 4K display via a single DisplayPort cable.
The Realtek RTD2185 + RTD2799 solution allows a single DisplayPort cable to support both ultra-high 5K@60Hz display and 4K ultra frame rate 120Hz display. This solution provides multiple HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort HBR3 (High Bit Rate 3), and MHL digital inputs. The HDMI 2.0 receiver PHY supports up to 6GHz, allowing true UHD 4:4:4 color transmission at 60Hz frame rate. Built-in support for Multi-Stream Transport (MST) technology enables end-users to easily daisy-chain multiple monitors via a simplified configuration.
“Realtek’s RTD2185 + RTD2799 solution enables monitor makers to bring to the market top-of-the-line, flagship monitors with the highest resolution and highest frame rate using a single DisplayPort cable”, said Realtek’s Vice President and Spokesman, Yee-Wei Huang. “DisplayPort HBR3 allows total bandwidth data transfers up to 32.4Gbps (4 lanes@8.1Gbps), which is a huge increase over DisplayPort HBR2. The higher screen resolutions and higher refresh rates provide outstanding gaming performance, as well as text and graphics that are rendered crisp and sharp”.
All HDMI and DisplayPort interfaces adopt the latest High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) version 2.2, and support all 5K/4K panel interfaces.
In addition, the integrated MCU, audio DAC, advanced color engine, 3D Gamma LUT, VESA Adaptive-sync technology, 3rd generation Realtek ‘Ultra-Vivid III’ image/video quality enhancement technology, Frame Rate Conversion (FRC), and Over-Drive (OD) provide a top quality highly integrated platform to meet all needs.
